Mekhi’s House is a home for unwed mothers and babies in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India and was established by JanPragati Ministry on May 2, 2017. This ministry is one of the first of its kind in this city and provides a safe haven for women and babies who are unwanted, rejected, and victims of assault or human trafficking. This ministry is called Mekhi’s House in honor of Bridgett and John Ballisty’s baby boy, Merritt Mekhi, who went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2017 — the same day this ministry was established. The name Mekhi is Hebrew for “who is like God.” Mekhi’s House extends God’s presence and love to many women and babies in India that otherwise would be thrown into a garbage heap.
